The funny things kids say & do...

This morning I went shopping for some groceries with Clay. He was sitting in the basket, and all of a sudden, he says, "Mom, the STINK is FOLLOWING us!" I didn't know what he was talking about. I didn't smell anything. So I said, "What stink?" And he says, "From my toot!" Ah, kids...they always keep us laughing!

So, then I started thinking about some of the other funny things our kids have said & done. We've had some very interesting conversations and some great laughs! So, I thought I'd share just a few of the highlights.

Some quotes from our kids:
"Mom, why does Jesus make our poop greenish-blue when we eat Fruit Loops?"
"Jesus made socks so we can ice skate on the slippery floor."
"When I grow up, I want to be a dad so I can be the boss and say bad words!"
"Mom, you have grandma legs. They are kind of white & bumpy."
"Hey, my testicles are BLEEDING!" (He MEANT to say CUTICLES!!--and this was said while we were driving, and both Neil and I flipped around in our seats to find out what he was talking about!)

Some of the funny things our kids have done:
*We had one child get up from a nap and walk into the kitchen, drop his pants, and pee on a chair. He was dreaming...
*One child was pretending that he was on "Fear Factor" (he was supposed to be going to sleep at bed time), and managed to somehow get his arms tangled up in his underwear--behind his back--and couldn't get himself out! Oh, man, I wish we had a picture of that one!! We STILL laugh so hard about that!
*And we had one child swallow a quarter when he was NINE years old. It didn't pass on it's own, so he has a nice 2-inch scar on his belly from the surgery. (not so funny then, but we can look back & laugh now).

Being a parent is the best! Kids are great. They keep life interesting, and always keep you laughing. I love seeing their sweet smiles, hearing their laughter, and getting all those great hugs & kisses! It's so fun to see them accomplish something new that they've worked so hard on, and watch them beaming with pride. And it's great to be able to make everything better with a hug & a kiss, and to just sit & talk with them about their hopes & dreams, or worries & frustrations. And it's priceless when you have those special moments together that create lasting memories. I love being a mom and am so grateful for all the dirty handprints, trails of sand, toothpaste on the bathroom counter, and crumbs on the kitchen floor. Our kiddos will all be grown up before we know it and I'll be missing those things. So, I'll just cherish those moments and enjoy the laughter! :)
