Goodbye Shadow...

Sad day at our house today... We had to tell our 14-year-old dog, Shadow, goodbye. She has been going down hill very quickly over the past several months, having a lot of problems with arthritis in her back legs, and kidney failure. Today she just couldn't stand up. It was so sad. She kept trying to stand & then would fall down hard. Then she tried to walk down the back porch steps & fell again, then threw up. She was NOT doing well at all. It broke our hearts! The kids couldn't watch & went in the house, very upset. I called Neil & the vet, and the kids & I stayed with Shadow, giving her lots of hugs & love. Neil got home around 2:30, and then at 3:30, the vet was able to come to our house to give her the injection to put her to sleep. She has been a great dog for our family over the past 11 years--so sweet & gentle, well trained, and lots of fun...we will miss her!
