January 2012

Here is a slide show of our past week, visiting Niagara Falls, The Niagara Butterfly Conservatory, and the Royal Ontario Museum in downtown Toronto. Lots of fun! (I'm not sure why the actual slide show won't post, but you'll have to copy & paste the link into your browser to watch the slide show. Maybe I'll just post individual pics later...)

Having fun with Grandma & Grandpa Checketts visiting...
Niagara Falls... (It was much prettier & more impressive in the fall when all the flowers were in bloom & it was warm & sunny, with a blue sky & blue water. But it was still fun to go see it again).

Niagara Butterfly Conservatory

The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) in Downtown Toronto. This place was HUGE! Five stories, many exhibits, hands-on things for kids, 2 restaurants, and lots of fun! We were there about 5 hours and still didn't see everything!

Inside the ROM...

A real mummy!

Digging for artifacts...

Egypt...

Greece...

China...

Japan...

They also had a really cool special exhibit on the ancient Mayan culture, but they didn't allow any pictures. It was fun for the kids to see artifacts & things about the places that Neil & I saw when we went to Cancun for our 15th anniversary trip 2 years ago. They've heard us talk about Chitzen Itza & have seen pictures, so this was cool for them to learn more & see some hands-on artifacts & such.

Because the ROM was so big & even after about 5 hours, we still weren't able to see it all, we ended up getting a season pass, so we can go back & see more another time. So, when we have more family come visit, we can go there again! :)
