HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! (and other random pics)

Just thought I'd share a few pictures from the past couple weeks...

Two weeks ago, we took the kids to a pumpkin patch and picked out some pumpkins, went to a movie, and out to dinner (at the Shogun Japanese restaurant, where they cook the food for you right at the table & it's quite the show. Neil & I had been before, but the kids never had. They loved it!) It was such a great, relaxing weekend!! The kids wanted to carve the pumpkins the next day, so we did, but they were moldy and nasty by last Sunday, so we had to throw them out. Our kids have also had a great time playing in the leaves around our house. It can keep them happy & entertained for hours--making big piles to jump in, or throwing them at each other, etc.

Like I mentioned in my last post, Tessa came down with the flu on Monday (the doctor said it was most likely the H1N1 flu), so she had to stay home from school all week. She was so sad to miss her Activity Days party, and her class party at school. But she is feeling much better now (just in time for her birthday on Monday!) While she was home sick, Clay wanted to cheer her up, so he made his train track all the way around the couch she was resting on, and played right by her most of the day, and made her get well cards, etc. It was so sweet. Then a couple days later, PJ ended up not feeling well. He never got as sick as Tessa, so I'm not sure if he had a mild case of the flu, or was just not feeling great--who knows...

On Thursday, Clay had his preschool Halloween party and had a fun time with that, and then on Friday, Jonah had his class party, so we went to that as well. Clay loves going to the big kids' parties, because he always gets to sit by them at their desk and have some treats along with them. It was a lot of fun.

And in the midst of all this, Neil was gone on a business trip, and was supposed to get home Thursday evening around 10:00 or so. Well, his flight out of Minnesota got delayed, making it so that he would miss his connecting flight in Dallas. So he had to arrange a different flight that left a couple hours later. So, that flight went to Chicago where he had another layover, and THAT flight was ALSO delayed. So it pushed back his arrival AGAIN! He FINALLY arrived in Tulsa (he flew out of that airport instead of the one in Bentonville, because the price was MUCH less), and drove 2 more hours from there, getting home at 2:30 a.m. Then he had to be up the next morning for a meeting at work at 7:30 a.m. Poor guy was pretty worn out. I was SO glad it was Friday, so he could get some extra rest over the weekend.

So, because our kids have been sick, we missed our church party and "trunk-or-treat". They were kind of bummed, but then they had the great idea to just go trick or treating to each others bedrooms, with all the candy that I bought for the trunk or treat that we were going to miss. They thought that was great! I got a pizza (shaped like a pumpkin), and a video to watch for that evening. It was really a fun night!

Since the kids are all finally feeling better, we'll take them out trick or treating tonight, just around our neighborhood, so they can actually wear their costumes somewhere other than our house, and collect some more candy! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! :)

what a cute idea to trick or treat in the house! My girls will love doing that tomorrow. Thanks for the idea.
...and be glad you missed out on all the candy and sugar highs from the class parties!
